Mrs. York’s second grade class celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with various creative activities. Shown below are the students’ Dr. Suess creatures. Mrs. York gave them the name of a creature and they were to use their imagination to draw how they believe it would appear. The class then played hide & seek with their pictures. Their clue to find their creature’s picture was a rhyming phrase, like “the slubby is in the cubby”, “the quink is by the sink”. The class later participated in the Literature Olympics using rhyming words followed by a creativity contest where the students were given only a paper plate, scissors and a red crayon to make something special.
